A warm welcome

Hi, I’m LJ, a landscape photographer based near Edinburgh, Scotland.

My work is rooted in ethereal forests, serene lochs and misty mountains of Scotland, seeking to capturing the unique beauty of each throughout the seasons.

Inspired by cinematic storytelling and enchanted landscapes, I am drawn to places that feel otherworldly; mist moving through trees, light through trees and fleeting moments with wildlife. My photography is created as fine art intended to bring the beauty and quiet of wild Scotland into your space.

Thank you for looking at my work and I hope you enjoy discovering wild Scotland through my lens.

I have been fortunate to have travelled all over the world with my husband. My all time favorite trip outwith Scotland was visiting Japan. I often reflect on the amazing adventure we experienced there; going on the famous Shinkansen, feeding monkeys at Arashiyama, and we were even go up quite a bit of Mount Fuji and there was not a cloud in the sky, which I hear is quite rare.

Prior to pursuing landscape photography, I have years of experience as a wedding and family portrait photographer. There’s something about landscape photography that really speaks to me and I really love cinematic storytelling and capturing fleeting moments. Turning my photography into fine art prints for others has been a joy to work on.

I have two little boys and they often join on my photography ventures across Scotland. My oldest son has been all over Scotland including the Scottish Highlands, the Outer Hebrides among other Scottish Islands and the North Coast 500 with us. We do hope to return to the North Coast 500 again soon.

I love to learn and previously studied Business Studies with Marketing at University and graduated with First Class Honours. I was also awarded the University Programme Medal for “Outstanding Achievement" in my degree program, and am very proud of these accomplishments. Don’t ever let anyone tell you something is out with your reach. My University Year Head personally wrote me a letter of congratulations on my achievements after telling me I would never reach them.

I have become a bit of historian after watching a wee show called Outlander, which opened up a love of Scottish history I didn’t know was right there waiting in front of me. I now love visiting Scottish historical sites, a lot of which are Outlander filming locations, a happy coincidence that they are within driving distance of my home.

It is very hard to choose favourite places in Scotland but Eilean Donan Castle does hold a special place in my heart as does the Isle of Skye. There is one other special place I should mention, and I am very lucky to live a stones throw from it, and that of course is Midhope Castle, or if you’re an Outlander fan like me; Lallybroch.
